The water is calm, warm and shallow — ideal for swimming, paddleboarding and snorkelling. Food in Negril is a highlight in itself. Negril is a safe and welcoming town, but like anywhere, a little common sense goes a long way. Carry cash for small vendors and route taxis, agree on prices for tours and crafts before you start, and always reapply your sunscreen. The local currency is the Jamaican dollar, though US dollars are widely accepted. The best time to visit is between December and April, when the weather is dry and the temperature hovers around a perfect 27°C.
